Literary Society Parnassos

The Parnassos Literary Society Mansion was inaugurated in 1891 and has since been one of the most prestigious venues for lectures, dances, musical performances, and various cultural events. An exception was during 1943-1944, when it served as a supreme military court under Nazi occupation. Today, the mansion stands as a preserved historic building, officially designated as a cultural monument, bearing a rich and significant history.

The Central Hall is renowned for its exceptional acoustics, attributed to the panels where chandeliers once hung before the building was electrified. It was electrified immediately after the Hellenic Parliament, making it one of the earliest buildings in Greece to receive electric lighting.

Over the years, distinguished figures such as Pierre de Coubertin, Arthur Evans, Georges Clemenceau, Winston Churchill, and Eleftherios Venizelos have delivered speeches from its esteemed stage.

The Hall, near Panepistimio Metro Station (Red Line), accommodates 500 guests, with 400 seats on the main floor and an additional 120 in the galleries.
